FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mr. Electric® Welcomes New Franchise Owner, Demi Hoar, to the Team

Cardiff business owner to be first female franchise owner to run a Mr. Electric business on her own.

PETERBOROUGH, Cambridgeshire, PE1 5PP (Date ##, 2016) – Mr. Electric has landed in Cardiff and the surrounding areas as ex-army combat medic, Demi Hoar, has launched the electric franchise in the area. Demi has recently completed her 17th Edition, Part P qualification to become a fully qualified electrician and is happy to start her new journey into electrical services and repairs.

Demi enjoys a more practical approach to her career, which is the reason she chose to become a combat medic for the army in the first place. However, after having a baby, Demi decided to leave the army and try a change of scenery.

Her friend who is also an ex-serviceman had gone into the gas industry and was doing well for himself, so she wanted to look into something similar. When Demi wasn’t interested in gas, she looked into electrics, and as luck would have it, an electrical course was starting the week after so she enrolled herself. Once she had finished her course, herself and her partner, Daniel Wright, decided to go into business together so buying into an electrical business was the right solution.

“I was led to Mr. Electric as my partner was looking into franchising and I had just passed my electrical course so it made sense,” Demi commented. “Having The Dwyer Group® there definitely helps me to sleep at night. As I will be running the business on my own for about a year, knowing that they are there to support me is what made me choose a Mr. Electric franchise. To know that I have someone to help guide me with the systems, marketing and how to work on my business gives me peace of mind.”

Her partner is completing another year with the military, after which he will be joining Demi with running the business. So, for the first year she will be looking after the business on her own, and although this can be a daunting prospect for any new business owner, she commented that she has had a lot of help and support from her franchise consultant at The Dwyer Group and is thrilled to now be running her own business.

“Demi’s tenacity to learn and positive attitude towards the business is a recipe for success,” franchise consultant Dave Galvin commented. “Considering she is a woman in a man’s world, she is a strong and mature young woman, and with her friendly and knowledgeable personality has the ability to gain everyone’s respect.”

Recent statistics show that less than one in every one thousand electrical contractors is female*, which means that women are majorly under-represented in the electrical trade. Even though Demi’s business is the 18th Mr. Electric franchise to launch in the UK, she is the first female owner in the country to be running the business alone.

“Demi is a high achiever and a strong leader who exemplifies the kind of franchise owner – man or woman – that we look for across our industry,” said Jeff Meyers, Vice President of International Operations for Dwyer Group. “Welcoming our newest member to the Mr. Electric organisation shows others the fantastic possibilities that exist in our growing network.”

Demi’s determination and dedication is something to be admired by women and men alike. She is already undertaking a difficult enough task by opening and running a business on her own, let alone a business in a trade that is mostly dominated by men. She is a very strong and focused addition to the Mr. Electric team and they are happy to be embarking on their franchising journey with Demi.
